Can someone help Id this Raleigh please?

I wonder if any of you lovely knowledgeable people can help me Id this beauty I picked up yesterday?

She is a 1979 Raleigh ( I managed to work that much out , serial number NN9....). I don't know much else, there are no model names anywhere upon her lovely frame, hopefully the photos will help put a name to her face.

Also I picked up a Raleigh Candice with the serial number 0067577 (or is it OO67577?) found on the lower end of the seat post. I can't figure out what age this is, can anyone help?

I had a great day yesterday, also managed to pick up a tres old Carradice saddle bag. I feel very spoiled. :-)

Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

Should be a date on the sturmey archer rear hub. Rod brakes are unusual for a 70's bike. (only saw a green model in your pics) Are you speaking of 2 different bikes? If the wheels are 26", I'd guess a sports. Google 'retro raleighs' for a lot of info.....happy trails!

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking of two different bikes but only included photos of one. This was due to only one needing a model identifying but the other just needs an age.

The green Raleigh has a serial number starting NN9 which suggests made in Nottingham in October 1979. I thought the rod rakes odd as I haven't been able to find any 70's Raleigh pics with rod brakes. Could these have been added later?

The Sturmey also suggests an age of 1979.

With regards to the Candice the serial number completley baffles me. Sheldon mentions nothing on O's... and this bikw has no Sturmey to help :-(

Thanks for the comments so far.

Bike in pics isn't a sports model, on this side of the pond the fender struts would be different (and more of them) also being the same color as the bike. I also don't see the white on the rear fender (should help date). The rear wheel could have been replaced/the rod brakes would make it either older or less of a model in the chain.

No, I bet that bike is how it left the factory. Everything on that bike points to 1979, the style of the trigger shifter, hub shell, decals and seat all look the part to me. It probably is one of the lower models since the saddle is a vinyl Brooks. I have a 1973 Raleigh DL-1 with rod brakes and know that they were available at least into the early 80s. This is probably US / UK model difference, maybe it's a dawn tourist or something. The fork crown is also unusual for a Raleigh, normally it would be a thimble style.

Nice bike and nice saddle bag too.
