Basso Frame

Could anyone give me any details on a Basso frame I came across? It is a steel frame with no stickers giving me the type of tubing used. Top tube has a “cOral” sticker (yes that is a capital or large o). Cables are routed under the bottom bracket so I figure it may be from 90’s. I also need to know the type of threads used in the bottom bracket.

Hello jlhamann, welcome to the forums. can you post some pics? unless one of the huge Basso fans knows we might not be able to help you much. most companies make different bikes for the US and European markets. I know it doesn't help much be the BB is likely either Britiah or Italian but you know what? you should be able to tell the difference by the diameter of the shell. I have an english bb around here let me find it and my calipers. I'll try and edit this shortly

jl, check the components for date codes and then look up the codes on the vintage Trek site. Date codes can be found stamped to the back of the components. Its probably easiest to get them from the back of the cranks (if they're shimano) or the back of the front derailleur.

Date codes will help us narrow down the year which in turn will help us narrow down the tubing, model and threading. My intial guess is to say the model is the 'Coral' and it uses Basso branded tubing.

I checked the date codes and got dates all over the place. The stem was April 1986. The cranks were July 2002. The STI shifters were Shimano RSX which I think were from 1995 - 1999. The derailleur was Dec. 2002. The hubs and brakes were not Shimano and look like they are much newer than everything else. It's hard to tell if any of the components are original.

OK, I think I figured out the frame is from 1996. Can anyone tell me more about the tubes it is built with? Basso Tube Concept does not tell me much.
