how much is this trek frame worth?
hey all, i'm looking into either building up this bike or selling/trading the frame (it's a bit too tall for me).
wondering if you could give me some guidance on what to realistically expect here.
the frame is a pewter trek, with the serial # 024326. vintage-trek lists that as an early 80s model. it has the brass headbadge with no screws.
confirming with the brochures, it appears to be the 24" 720 model from 1983. not 100% positive on that, though.
the paint is somewhat scuffed with some decent wear, and all the original trek panel on the bars has been scraped off.
what can i expect for this?
i've included a few pics

024326 serial number is a 1982 311, not a 720, which is a better match for those pics.
Very little value given bike is missing a lot of parts and is in poor condition.
720 had dual bottle braze ons, lots of other differences as well.
311 is a pretty basic bike, and this one is far from complete.

thanks for the reply!
hmm, a 311 ? i hadn't checked that one.
anyway, i don't expect this thing to be worth a goldmine or anything, just looking for a reasonably accurate price to expect from craigslist, etc.
i'm just talking about the frame, not the bike at all.
i have an offer from someone for $75. is that decent for this frame? i would love to use this for my single-speed, but it's a little too tall for me.
if i can't sell or trade it, i suppose i'll just use it for myself, as i can't afford much more.

I would jump all over that offer of $75 personally. Just make sure the buyer doesn't think it is a 720.

I agree, $75 is a good price for this Trek frame in that condition. Given that vintage Treks are rather desireable, I have personally been hoarding them and have trouble letting go even if they are'nt my size. The ones I've seen on CL generally don't sit long.
