I would not pay that price. Just sold a 1988 Miyata 712 last week for a lot less.

great looking bike but I agree a bit over priced. I think the flipper just put a bit too much money into it. I would definatly get the old brake parts from him.

I think it's only a little over priced - not all that unreasonable if it includes the original brake parts.
I had a 710 and it was really a fine bike, with good Sugino cranks and Cyclones. - Plus, it's a better Miyata, one of the more sought after Japanese brands.

Cyclones? very nice. I am not Myata expert but thanks to all of you I have learned that a 710 was one of the better models and judging from the shifters I knew the brakes would be nice but I was thinking more like Gran Compes

I don't know anything about the bike. But, from what I read on here if they think the bike is slightly overpriced for their market it probably is a deal in NY.

thanks
I pulled the trigger for $300. Bike looks and rides like it's hardly been used. Pretty too! why is everyone so adamant re: the brakes? I haven't looked at them yet. Is this a functional thing or is it about authenticity?

PS - I think you'll be happy with your decision! Congrats.

Sounds like a decent deal for a big urban market, and the bike looks to be in excellent condition, with changes made by someone who knew their stuff. The Tektro levers are inexpensive but work well and have a fat handle, so very comfy for your palms.
