Any value to this Bianchi Nuova Alloro?

I am wondering what the value of this old bianchi nuova alloro bike is. I believe its a 12 speed and does have some chips in the paint on front fork and right gear, but very little if any rust. It looks like it still has all the original parts; Campy, Mavic, Modolo America, 3TTT, although I am not positive. I am not sure how to measure the bike but know its for someone at least 6 feet tall. Maybe someone could let me know what its worth and how I measure it. I got this for my son off of Craigslist, but he refuses to ride it because its too big for him but his 6 foot friend loved it, said it was a really smooth ride. I have a couple of pics but can post more if needed. Thank you for your time.

Hello Debibop welcome to the forums. nice looking Bianchi. the basic answer to the value is simple, if you recently purchased it from CL that is the current value.

it looks like perhaps the bartape is missing which is a good indication that the bike also needs a tuneup. does it actually say Alloro or Nouvo Alloro on the top tube? (the top tube is the bar running from where the handlebar stem inters the frame to the seatpost) I am pretty sure this is a '85 Novuo Alloro judging by the color, decal style and the parts on it.

this bike came in 6 sizes the biggest two being 59 and 63cm. you measure the bike from the black bolt that holds the crank arm on to the top of the tube where the seat post enters the frame. if it is a 59 and your sone id 5' 11" or so it should fit him (33"ish inseam) but if it is a 63 it may be too big

in good shape these are nice bikes and a fairly popular model however yours is red and the trademark Celeste color. I have seem Celeste one sell for around $300 or so. this one might night only go for $250 because of the red but again that is in tiptop ready to ride shape. new tuneup, serious cleaning and some wax, new bartape, maybe even new tires.

PS can you post a few nicer pics these are a bit blurry and it make it hard to see the condition.

Hi Bianchigirl thank you for your help with this. To answer your question, the bike does say nuova alloro on the top tube (see pic). I know it is hard to see but there is tape on the handlebars that is silver. I also measured the bike like you said and it measures 63cm, so does that mean it fits someone 6'3? I am posting a few more pics hopefully they are clearer. My son is only 5'6 right now so he isn't even close to fitting this bike. I was also wondering if the value of the bike increases at all if I take the time to clean it really good or not really, just in case I decide to sell and/or trade this one for one that fits him better? Thank you so much for your time, its very helpful and appreciated.

no the 63 is simply the size of the frame. the general rule used to be if you could stand over the bike with about 2" between you and the bike it was the correct size. a bike this size is for someone over 6' (yeah in a round about way 6'3") but with about 35" or so inseam.

cleaning the bike does not add value to but like a care it make it a more attractive item to buyers and will aid in getting top dollar. when I look at a bike if it has dirt 'in the corners' I take that into consideration as to what I would offer for it.
