French road bike.........
So I've been scouring the internet and I've found a bike that looks just like mine........Geminiani "special"..........if you check out his page on www.classicrendezvous.com it's the blue frame.........................Nervex pro lugs, Breve dropouts, chrome only on the fork crown and tips.....and the telltale are the pump pegs under the top tube..........and the HS locking rings, though the pics are low res.............similar HS to the old Peugeots ...........
I'm just learning about the french sizing........this is a frame with fork that I stripped to metal, picked the lugs clean.......etc. has a BB but not smooth.......frame is straight.........
Is this frame worthy of Campy components? If it is a "Special" is that more desirable than other Geminiani frames..................S/N is 96000 or 00096...
It's a nice size for me........but I'm more used to Brit/Italian sized components.........
I am inlove with the Nervex Pro lugs............was hoping it was a Raleigh Gran Prix but no dice.........
thanks.............

531 tubing, nervex pro lugs and BB shell - I'd say it's worthy of Campy - or a great mix of French - components. Too bad the CR bike is frame-only as well, so you don't have an idea of what it might have sported.
And welcome to BF.
You mentioned stripped to metal. Have paint, decals in mind?

this was rescued from the back yard with a very old drippy rattle can job on it....no chrome left but the crappy paintjob kind of "preserved" the steel in general............sanded pretty smooth, slight pitting around the chainstays and front edge of forks............
Lead me where to start a "conceptual" thread.................was thinking British racing green with deep orange accents..... beige pinstriping.....................if it is a Geminiani, the seat tube is his portrait....dunno if I'm into that.....nervex badging would be nice.........................

I know this post was many years ago, but I was wondering if you found out anything more about the Raphael Geminiani Special model or the serial number. I just acquired a special and I'm trying to find out more about this model and any serial number information. Not to mention if this bike restoration project ever made it to completion??
