1980 (?) Klein
This was may fathers bike and all I know about it was what I could gather by looking and measuring. I'm sure many of my terminology and measuring conventions are wrong, but here goes:
* I believe the bike was purchased in about 1980, give or take a few years.
* 18 speed.
* It appears to be unpainted aluminum. Under the rear fork the frame is stamped "S842."
* Handlebars are stamped "Cinelli 66-42."
* Seat stem says "Shimano Dura-Ace."
* Pedal cranks say "Sugino AT."
* Front: "Suntour Cyclone m-II"
* Rear: "Shimano Deore XT."
* Modolo brakes.
* The frame is 42" measured hub to hub, and 24 1/2" from the pedal hub up to where the seat post starts.
* The wheels are marked "Matrix Titan" 700C x 13 mm.
Any help on identifying the model and rough value would be greatly appreciated. The bike was used regularly and has some nicks on the frame.
Thank you -
Russ

Hello rlipetzky welcome. can you post some pics? I am not a Klien expert but I am not sue hey actually had models then. they may have simply made a frame and the buyer specced it how he wanted it
the components sound a bit mixed but that is not unuaual for early '80s bike. where are the shifters mounted and do they index (click) when you shift gears.

Thank you for responding -- no, I am no longer where the bike is and cannot post a photo. The shifters are not indexed and are mounted on the down tube, through which the cables run.

unless Klein can assit you using the serial # to date it you may be out of luck. other than just saying in running condition $150 to 200 no one here will be able to give a good year, model or value without a few pics.
