Grab Bag o' Bikes
Well I was going through town today and passed by a yard sale. Scored three bikes for $20. Honestly two of the three I can't imagine are worth much. But maybe you guys can help me sift through the stuff.
I will start with the best thing I got.
I may be completely wrong but I think it is a Schwinn. The guy who sold it to me says he thinks 1940's though that may be way off. It is a single speed with regular coaster brake, chrome fenders, white wheels with red pin stripes, Working headlight, taillight and generator setup that says "Schwinn Approved". I cannot find any numbers on it yet. Any help identifying it would be great.

The second bike does not seem to be anything special. It is a Huffy Windsprint 12 speed. It has Yoshikawa brake levers (I assume calipers as well), Shimano stem shifters, Avocet touring seat, generic shimano front derailler, and Shimano Skylark Rear Derailler. The front fork is trashed. Also it has wingnut quick releases on the front wheel. Goofy looking.
Numbers on the Huffy are 658 and 1401113074

The last bike is a Free Spirit 10 speed. Front derailler is a Excel Dynamic. Rear derailler is a Excel Synchromesh. It has Dia-comp levers and Dia-comp multi joint brake calipers. and the handlebar stem has a wierd logo on it look likes "(.)ill" or "Will" I dont know.
Number on it is 502472250N6651391

I also recieved a set of large flange Excel hubs/wheels?
a small flange Excel hubs/wheels?
Large flange sunshine hubs/wheels?
and Large flange Normandy hubs/wheels?
And some super cool vintage looking skewers.
So anything I should put on my dumpster-find peugoet? Or anything I should save? Obviously the vintage bike will be fun to fiddle with.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Sunshine hubs are early Sansin... they used this naming because they are pronounced nearly the same.
These are very good - excellent hubs.

Around here the Huffy and Free Spirit would not be worth rehabbing. If you have some steel wheels laying around, I would probably put them on the better of the two bikes and donate it to the charity of your choice. I would either curb the other bike, or if you have a co-op in your area, donate both the Free Spirit and Huffy to them.
Will need better pics on the first bike to determine whether it is a Schwinn or some other brand. Cruisers get decent response around here, so I would probably clean it up and resell it.
+1 The misc parts were really the best part of this deal. I do this myself. Sometimes sellers just want to get rid of stuff. So to buy something nice, I will sometimes buy the whole pile, and donate off most of the pile. I bought five bikes earlier this year from one seller, four were pure crap, but I wanted bike #5, so it was worth it to me. Some of the other four were not even worth donating, so two of them went to the curb.

I will post up better pictures of the cruiser tonight. I believe I will grab all the good parts off the other two bikes. Make one good one out of parts I dont want and donate it.

I couldn't even help myself. I grabbed some tools and tore into the free spirit. I didn't have my camera with me so these cell pics will have to suffice.
