A 1970s Raleigh Competition**********?

This is listed on ebay as a 1970ish Raleigh Competition. However, even with me being a layman at this, this seems to be and 80s models. I thought all the 1970s Raleigh Competions were made in England. This on is made in USA.

Thank you. As you can see, I am a beginning novice on vintage Raleighs, and that caught my eye quickly.

It is 1980s Raleigh am I correct?

At sometime in the 80's Raleigh as a brand in the USA got product from Japan then Taiwan.
In the 70's Raleigh began bringing in bikes marked Rampar, and other products that were distributed by them but not built in Europe.

So, when and what happened at Raleigh in England (Europe too) to bring the separation? Just market forces and exchange rates?
