Peugeot PX10? Whats it worth?

What do you guys think. strong light cranks, Brooks pro saddle, Reynolds 531 frame

I'd estimate that you have about a '58-63 model there, based on the crank. It looks very well preserved.
I don't know if the forks were Reynolds or not this early-on.
The pedals are replacements as are (presumably) the clincher rims.
I would like to see closer pics of the brakes and DR's. These too may be later.
A pic of the headbadge & lugs would be good too.

Early 70's issues are going $350-450 so I'd estimate yours could get $525-600, cleaned up and lubed. Maybe the California market may command a little more.

I am by no means knowledgeable about PX10's but those rims look to have a stippling and are mighty shiny. Are they Rigida Cro-lux?? And why the dork disk? And is not the freewheel a larger range than typical? It suggests someone mounted UO8 wheels. Or the PX10 had them way back then (which I doubt). But what do I know?

It's a hodge-podge of parts but it is also an interesting old frame and a very unusual color scheme. A lot depends on how much is original. The 93 crankset may be a replacement as the original may have been cottered. IMO, the wheels are horrible and the bike would be worth more without them. Ditto for the pedals and possibly seatpost. Check the bottom of the saddle and the RD for datecodes as that may help pin down the date and tell you how much is original. It's an interesting and unusual frame that looks to be in great condition but finding the rest of the parts to fully restore it to original condition could be an expensive undertaking.

They looked like modern machined rims to me.

I think the Stronglight crank is original : It shows in the (poor quality) image for the PX10 below, so it was there at least by the 1963 catalog, and it's reasonable to assume it was used a little earlier.

I think Jim is right about the U08 wheels and the paint is not as good as it first appeared - it needs an OA bath, and the saddle has rivets popping out.
Still a very interesting bike but w/o a suitable wheelset and saddle the value is much diminished.
I would probably offer the guy 100 to test the water then 150. If I was selling I'd ask about $225 as-is.

I would be all over that bike if it was close to me. The unusual color (hope it is original) and that crank are enough to entice me. Wheels can be addressed. +1 It is a bit of a project which usually cuts down the competition. As long as you are willing/able/ready to do the work yourself, go for it. You won't see another from that era for a long, long time.

Hopefully more of the Peugeot experts will wade in as to originality.

I went to pick it up yesterday, the price changed after i got there. Three *#%%&%$ hour drive for nothing. Here's his Craigslist post with more pictures

Even thou I was specific in my e-mail, he claims he thought I wanted the other bike he had for sale. He said it was a honest mistake, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

I'm confused. He had two Peugeots for sale and you thought you were getting the old PX10? Was there a price on the white Peugeot or was it "make an offer" also?

That's the impression I get from the ad too, $ 125 for the white one and make offer on the other. Both bikes are pretty ragged out Frankenbikes, even if they are Peugeot's.

The circa 1962 PX10 is hardly a Frankenbike: well used, yes, but it's survived almost 50 years mostly intact. Appears that only the wheels and pedals are not original.

I'd bet the seatpost is a replacement too, but still....very collectible and worth a pretty penny.
