Value of Gitane Tour De France mid seventies- bike is not for sale
So after browsing in here a fair bit I'm really wondering what my TdF might be worth.
I've been told it's a 1976 and other than the Brooks saddle and brakes it's virtually original.
Here it is, what do you guys think it's worth. Once again, I am not selling it, I'm just curious.

I'd put it around 500 detailed up/lubed etc. On par with the Raleigh competition with those components. Just my opinion.

$600. It's a notch above the Comp (isn't the catalog weight 1-2 lbs. lighter?), and it's in great shape. Nice bike!

Wow, more than I thought. Thanks guys!
It's just waiting it's turn for disassembly, cleaning and fresh grease and it'll be my backup bike for special rides as it's a bit small for me but I just can't part with it.

Glad you're keeping it together-parted out even more $$$! Will need a pic when all clean and shiney!

I especially like the dropouts! Very nice and the chrome is gorgeous. The Stronglight cranks aren't the most interesting that I've seen, but hey, they're still Stronglight!
Like the color too.

Thanks, those pics were after a very quick, basic cleaning after I got it this fall. It had been hanging virtually unused for years before I got it.
Parting out a bike like this would be a crime, I only wish it still had it's original brakes but I'll probably source a set in the future.
