1972 World Traveler - Modified
So a few things have come up and I now need to know the value of one of my bikes:
1972 World Traveler made by Panasonic for Schwinn in Opaque Green. Very clean. A few minor scratches/paint chips on frame but no rust. Very minor surface rust only underside of fenders and inner side of chainring guard. I bought this last year in fairly rough shape. Cleaned it all thoroughly, repacked hub bearings, all new cables/housings. New tires/tubes and wheels trued. Tweaked to be more of an upright ride by adding upright bars, fenders, rack, grips, and brake levers from a 70's Varsity. New leather springer saddle (not Brooks).
So... I think it's a pretty unique find, in great shape and ready to ride. Any questions or thoughts on its value would be appreciated, thanks!

That's a really nice example! I had one new back in '73 or so. I really wanted a Varsity but they were on back order. On the plus side, I beat the living crap out of it over a 15 year period and it took it. On minus side it has a lugged frame yet manages to be heavier than an electro-forged Varsity! How is that even possible? Especially considering that it came with aluminum bars and an alloy stem as opposed to the steel items that came with the Varsity!
I gave the frame away a few years ago but many of the components are still in use on some of my favorite bikes.

+1 At the end of the day, it's a nicer Japanese version of the Varsity. Really depends on your market. Watch what the real nice Varsities go for in your area, that will get you close. Really nicely done!

Thanks! Yup, I definitely know it's market driven, so I was just looking for a ballpark. I know we're not supposed to mention that it's a sale thing for some reason, but I need to unload it and just need to know if I can get out of it what I have into it. Thanks for the input!
