Peugeot UO-8
Hey I have a Peugeot UO-8 that I converted to a single speed. I couldnt find any spare parts for it and so I decided it was best that she should be a single speed. She is super clean and rides like a charm.

Let me know what yall think the value is

cottered cranks render the bike useless - just my 2 cents. I have a uo8 with an updated square taper BB spindle and alloy cranks and it has become a whole different machine. To make this conversion you need french threaded BB cups and a new spindle. In my opinion its totally worth it as the bike will ride so much better and maybe be worth a little more. In its current state I would pay 50-75 dollars at most. Have the cottered cranks slipped yet? try riding up a hill and the cranks will most likely begin to fall off.

Because the fixie/ss fad is falling fast your UO8 has negigable value. In OEM spec they're worth $50-$150 in good condition. It would cost at least $50 to retrun it to OEM spec.

I don't see the cranks falling off, appears to be in really good condition. Returned to its multispeed past, $150 in ready to go condition (normal markets, higher in the hot markets).
FG/SS craze is subsiding.

The cottered cranks (properly installed) are as reliable as any, and I think they add a little panache to these old bikes. (They are just a little harder to remove and install, and the cotters always require a little custom filing to fit).
Alloy cranks do save some weight - but the improvements you'll get from substituting alloy wheel rims instead will be far greater.
Your bike is in such nice condition. The original leather saddle enhances the value, and since it appears that you still have the high flanged rear hub and all the braze-ons, it wouldn't take much to restore it.
IMO, It would be worth the effort because as you have already observed, it is a nice rider.

Are you looking to sell it? I know you could unload in the spring here for 150 no problem, likely more. Personally, I'd keep it or sell it to a friend that wants to get into biking rather than just selling it on CL. I do have a huge soft spot for French bikes though.

Don't know where you are located. Around here, Raliegh, you could get $100 in the spring. But keep in mind this area is a University/College heavy area with three universities and at least two colleges (mayber more) within 50 miles of my house. The single speed craze has not completely died here. Fixies are fading fast, but single speed hangs on.

Thanks!
What I'm planning on doing is taking it to Minneapolis next time I go up there. Up there everyone is bike crazy and I think I could get over 200 for her.
Thanks for everyones help.
