This comment from T-Mar is all I could find on it.
(There are not a lot of on-line catalog resources for Univega/Italvegas).

Search is your friend. There is a thread that decodes Univega serial numbers. And in addition, there is always looking up the component codes. If it is friction shifting, I would guess early to mid 1980s.

Here's one, there are several. All of the serial number dating on Univegas that I have seen only work on the Miyata made models. By the late 80s, some Univegas were made by others. So it is not foolproof.

And then perhaps the best Univega thread (Univega Appreciation):

K is 1982 as I recall, and that is a Miyata serial number (thats a plus). First later is the year code.

I just sold one of these. I bought it last year and had converted it into a pretty solid single speed. It's got some good things going for it but It's a pretty low end bike with steel wheels/bars and stem shifters. The tubes are mangalite with hi-ten forks and rear stays. The Shimano side-pull brakes work fine and I think they're better than the dia compe center-pulls found on comparable bikes. Throw some alloy wheels/bars on it and you'll have a nice rider. Otherwise, if you have another geared bike I think it would make a great candidate for a single-speed or fixie.
