1997 Mongoose Tetra SX
 
saw this locally thought it might be worth a look asking 100 figured i could get it for $75. What are every ones thoughts thought it would be a good town/spare bike.

Sorry I do not know about your bike but I looks like a frame I am trying to ID. Do you have any more pics? Is the rear derailleur hanger a removable Everest (brand name) hanger?

Sure, it would make a very solid city bike. If I were buying it for myself to ride I would have no issue paying 75 for it.

Alivio and STX drivetrain will be no frills but pretty bombproof. Chances are the fork might be suspect by now though.

Just make sure front shock is not shot. Typically cheap forks do not age well. Thats one advantage of a rigid fork.
