Schwinn Cycle Truck Value?

I've been holding on to this bike for a while, with the intention to refurbish it as my surf transport. However, I've learned from past "projects" that it probably won't happen, so I'm thinking of selling it. The ser. # is on the left axle hanger/ dropout but is difficult to read without removing paint. I think it's: LA19981, or close to that. It has a basket and front stand in good shape, but the bike needs to be gone through (bb, hubs, wheels, and headset probably need attention). Any ideas of $ value in an as-is sale? Thanks. You can see some pics at: https://gallery.me.com/michaelvazquez#100065

I just sold a pretty nice 1964 cycletruck all original except basket, paint was kind of rough for $400 in Kansas City(kansas city is a week bicycle selling market) and it took 6 months on craigslist. Yours is missing fenders, signboard, original basket, wrong seat etc... But has the front stand, and basket bracket that are hard to find. If the wheels are original and half way decent $200 if the wheels are wrong $150 maybe. I also have a 1948 all original cycletruck. Here is a picture of the one I just sold for $400 https://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...er10/ct2-1.jpg

Thanks for the heads up. Jeesh! I thought my basket was big! I couldn't help but notice how close the pedals come to the ground on my cycletruck. It seems there may be an issue when pedaling over large bumps. It looks as though someone put a considerable amount of time into making the basket on my bike (appears to be fabbed out of flat stock). It's not original, but tough. Also, the old seat says "Messinger", that exact spelling, not sure what was original. As for the wheels and crank/bb, they all free spin and the brake works but I can't tell if the wheels are salvageable until the oxidation is cleaned up and they're checked for true. I assume your buyer was local. Just wondering, because I'm aware of people making remote deals over Craigslist. I'm near Long Beach, CA. Hope it would go pretty quickly, especially closer to summer. I figured I'd sell it if I could get a decent working bike for the selling price. All I have to do is figure out the best sale mediums (eBay, CL, etc). Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks again.

As with any old bike, the closer it is to being original, the more it will bring. Yours is a mixture of parts & that really hurts the value of it. It would probably bring just as much selling the frame alone , as it would the whole bike. I am thinking about $200.

Thanks for the estimate. I had thought about parting it out, for a brief moment. I then realized it wouldn't be worth my time and I could use the extra room anyhow. Let me know if you know anyone that's interested.

Worksman low-gravity bikes use a basket fabbed from bar stock, that could be one of them if not a home-made version.

I think the $150-$200 is on the low end, myself.

That's a possibility. I'll research that lead. The basket fabrication looks a little too tidy for anything but production. Thanks for your input. BTW, I find it curious that most interest and knowledge about these is coming from middle America.
