Hello
Bought this bike in 80 or 81 rode a year or so and hung it up for the next 28 years. Always liked the joinery of the seat stay's and lines of the front fork - tried to do a[I search - found info on Lotus bikes but not much on the Odyssey - Added a brooks B-17 saddle when I bought the bike - with exception of tires I believe balance of bike is original. Ukai:700c rims Champion #2 butted tubes Shimano 600 brakes Sun tour cyclone derailleurs Triple Sugino Crank I live in the Harrisburg - Lancaster PA area and would appreciate a ball park opinion as to the value - Thank You http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194983http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194984http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194985Attachment 194983 |
I'm not knowledgable enough to do appraisals, but I can say this much.......WOW. Beautiful.

$275 for perfect, ready to ride condition, and well marketed.
+1 To below: could sell Brooks separately, would have minimal effect on selling price, and would net you more $$. |
Our local bicycle coop sold the a similar bike for $150 but it needed work... did not have suntor cyclone and definatly no brooks seat. I know Harrisburg a bit... grew up just south of the mason dixon line. I feel there isn't a high demand for vintage bikes... maybe I'm wrong.
This maybe a case were its worth more parted out... I've seen good condition cyclone rd go for $25 to $50 on ebay and a used brooks seat $40 to $50 |
a simple thank you to the folks who responded to my query. good suggestions

+1 on the saddle. Take it off and sell it separately. Put a cheap "bargain bin" saddle on it, one that doesn't look out of place.
Personally, it is my type of bike and with the crankset and RD alone, I'd be willing to buy it. Probably around $250.00 to $275.00 even without the Brooks. |
I know this thread is old, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
I also have an 81 Odyssey and I'm in the Lancaster area too. I have a few detail questions on your bike (PM isn't on for TGUTTY). Did the bike come with seat tube decals, did they fall off, or did you remove them? If I think I see what I see that looks like a Uniglide chain? My bike also has a Uniglide chain and I thought it was a mistake/replacement given that the bike is all Suntour derailleurs, freewheel and a Sugino crank. Did you remove the spoke protector or was there not one installed? What pedals are on the bike (KKT Pro Ace?) and are the cages alloy or steel? Thanks! |
