Help Identifying 70's Peugeot
Hi all - First post here.
I picked up a 70's Peugeot 10-speed a little while back, and have just finished fully servicing it. Since this is the first Peugeot for me, I'm not really in tune with the brand. Any help identifying the age/model would be greatly appreciated. The wheels are 700c(Maillard hubs), Mafac brakeset, Simplex derailleurs. So it looks like model is the 'super sport'. Any way to decipher the exact year on old Peugeots?

Look on the derailleur cage (on the side that faces the spokes). I have a 70s Peugeot and the date was stamped right there on the derailler. Or look along the wheels for a date.

Decals suggest '79-83.
"Super Sport" would peg it as a U09 ( "Sport" would indicate U08) |

Found this ad from the 1981 Peugeot catalog(french): retropeugeot.com
That is the closest photo I have found of the bike - mine doesn't have frame pump notches. I wasn't able to find one like mine in the USA catalogs. The guy I purchased it from, mentioned that he bought it used while in Europe. Maybe it's a european model PH-8??? Gonna get some better photos of it today. |
i like it!

The rear hub was likely changed out due to the fact that there have been some issues with the Helicomatic hubs. In any case, it is a very nice looking Peugeot and looks close to my size. I sold my only Peugeot a couple of years ago and have been missing it since. It wasn't anything special, a red P-8 from 1982, but it had a terrific ride quality.
