Schwinn Premis w/ campagnolo, dura ace, and superbe?

Greeting all...

Want some value opinions... Bike is a Schwinn Premis frame with a real mismatch of components... http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=199531

Vintage Premis Campagnolo Road Bike Great Condition ready to go, just add pedals.

Components: Schwinn Premis Columbus Tenax Tubing Frame 59cm

12 speed Campagnolo chain rings, Campagnolo Record front and rear hubs

Cinelli stem and handlebars

Shimano Dura-Ace front and rear derailers, Shimano 105 dual lever shifters, (dura-ace downtube shifters disconnected but in place)

Super Bee rear brake, Royal S front brake

Campagnolo bottom bracket and SR crank arms (170)

Mavic rims

what I would want to do with it... swap out every thing for a shimano 600 group I have... use the campy record wheels for my tomassini. Put the 105 shifters on my bianchi build... sell off the dura ace parts... resell the bike with the shimano 600 group...

any thoughts

Need some input... have to make a decision soon... again I'm buying this bike mainly for the wheels and shifters... the frame re built up with other components and then sold

dura ace components will be parted out and sold.

any input is helpful

thanks

It' sounds possible. You will get the upgrades for your current bikes and have a good quality bike to resell. Without dollar costs and expected returns we cannot evaluate if it is plausible.

Seller wants $325 for the bike... I would like to offer $250... use the wheels and 105 shifters...

I figure I can get $250 to $300 for the bike once I switch out the components for the shimano 600 group I have... I have about $100 into the shimano 600 group including the wheelset.

just not quite sure if this all works out in my favor...

You could probably get a decent profit on just the 600 group alone. Sounds like the way you want to do it is okay, but a lot of work.

Bike not worth it, but the parts are. And since you can use the parts, go for it. Those 105STIs, assuming they work and are in good shape, could bring $125 plus, the DA downtube shifters have good value, ditto the rest of the parts.

Rebuilt with all Shimano 600 should bring close to $300. If you have any older 105 stuff, that would be a better choice on the build. Would probably bring $250 to $275 around here with 105 stuff, and the 105 stuff does not have the value of the 600 gear you are going to use (depending on the era of the 600 stuff of course). So really very little to no premium for the bike if built up with 600.

I made the deal and I'm picking up the bike today. I have two shimano 600 groups I could use one is an older group and the other is the tri color minus a front derailure.

I don't have any older 105 stuff... I will sift through my parts and see what else I can do...

I could also build the bike up as a single speed... which the college kids love around here. What about doing a total part out of the bike beside the parts I keep and use for my self... that save the time in rebuilding it but is value gained or lost?

for me the wheels and sti's were worth it... just have to decide what to do with the rest of the bike
