That's not exactly fair, what gkk1011 said. I have one with brand new tires that I just sold on Craig's list for $50.00. The tires were on it when I bought it and I cleaned it up but that's a steal! The bike weighs a ton but is well built and shifts smoothly and has remote brake handles on the cross bar so it's a damned good commuter. I think, in good shape with good tires you can easily ask $50.00-$75.00.

@fishline79 standing up for the Crazy TV Lenny bikes (American TV and Appliance gave them out in Wisconsin)! Even if this thread is dead the internet needs to be corrected. But honestly those bikes were garbage.

Ha! Well, as for TV Lenny's (I'm from WI and I remember him), I remember that they gave out Peugeot MTB's toward the end of their free giveaway days. Those were actually fairly decent bikes compared to the Firenze.
BTW, I have to give it to Firenze for the ultimate marketing angle, make the brand sound like it's a fancy Italian marque. Can't tell you how many times I've seen 'Italian Race Bike' or some such advertised at a rummage sale, only to find a Firenze road bike in bright blue or bright red, or even their Firenze MTB in red/yellow fade.

I don't know if the following is true, this seller is building up a Firenze:
FIRENZE 12 SPEED BIKE BICYCLE GL2000 27"
I don't know about all of that, there are about 3 or 4 up for sale.
Firenze GL2000 Only $50.
Here's the story. In the late 1970's or early 1980's, the Italian company, Firenze, produced a road bicycle. This bike was outsourced to Taiwan, who built them.
Thousands of Firenze bikes were then imported into the United States. Once they got here, it turned out they were not up to US code. (Much like Japanese cars cannot be sold in America).
A loophole allowed importers to give the bikes away as opposed to selling them, so these bikes were turned into promotional gifts for electronics and stereos.
The Firenze bicycle is a lot like the DeLorean car: even though it is average quality, few were produced and not many are still in existence, let alone functional. Making this a rare collectable that can provide years of enjoyment because everything on the bike is still in working order. It is a very light bike designed by this Italian manufacturer. Italians in general are well renowned for their craftsmanship, innovation and attention to detail. They produce wonderful and highly sought after road bikes.
Today, the DeLorean is a prized car, much like I prize this fully functional Firenze. I will take $100 or best offer for this Italian designed bike. The bike rides great! I would recommend buying new tubes and tires since aging allows rubber to dry and crack.

Well then, you've got to love this Firenze built up as a "custom bike." I think this one started at $500, now it's down to $350:

Edit: I do believe the seller is correct in that the original rear derailleur was retained. DNR - I always interpreted this as Do Not Resuscitate.
