two Miyata 1000's on ebay...sold
First off, I hope this is ok to post here. I thought these two sales might be a good point of reference for folks interested in buying a vintage 1000.
Two Miyata 1000s just sold on ebay, one was apparently a 1992 1000 LT and the other I was an early 80s 1000. I was surprised that the older of the 2 bikes sold for so much more, but maybe that just shows my ignorance. Even at $585 the 1992 Miyata 1000 LT seems to be right on the line, though the seller did insist it was in 'fabulous' condition. Although, none other than Sheldon Brown thought very highly of these bikes. Apart from the buyers willingness to pay, do these prices seem reasonable?

I'd also like to know the answer to this. I'm looking at two Miyata 1000's this weekend. One is a 1987 Miyata 1000 LT the other a 1985 Miyata One Thousand. I like the components on the LT but the looks of the 1000. Does one have better tubing or handle better than the other?

The 87 weighs 1 full pound more than the 85. Is it just components? they both have splined triple butted cro-mo tubing.
