Help a new guy out in figuring out what bike I scored for $30 at a garage sale

Hey guys, I am really new to this so please forgive me. My name is Mike :)

A few weeks ago I found a road bike for $30 at a garage sale. I doubt this bike is worth much but it was in a decent condition and i've been looking for a bike to ride around to save on gas. Please give me some info as to the worth of the bike, the company who made it and all that jazz...

I plan to restore this bike but before I do that I would like to know its worth. I don't want to dump money in it when it is not worth all that much.

thanks again!

Hi Mike,

It's a low end bike (1020 carbon steel frame, stamped dropouts, claw type rear derailleur hanger), so I wouldn't invest much money in restoring it. Just MHO.

Thanks Stan for the welcome and the information. Seeing as this bike is considered low end, I think i will just spend the time removing the rust and giving it a fresh coat of paint. I didn't want to repaint it and lower the value if it was worth something. I'll update and make a new post once i get to work on it. Thanks again!

Good Advice. If the bike was complete, it might be worth $50 (in my opinion).

Best bet if you are looking for a bike to save on gas is to buy one complete. Building up an incomplete bike is usually an expensive undertaking (compared to the value of the completed bike).

I had to take the wheels apart in order for me to transport it home. I have a small car. I do have the wheels but they are a bit rusted. One of them have a new tire but the other one is missing one. um... It is also missing a seat but other than that it is pretty much a complete bike that needs some TLC. Thanks for all the info guys, you have all been a lot of help.
