hello all, questions about a 1992 Cannondale R600

Hi all,
I am looking at purchasing my first bike, and have come across a Cannondale R600 that appears from the photos and descriptions to be in relatively nice shape. It is a 1992.
The owner says it really hasn't been ridden steadily since 1996, but that his brother rides it a few times a year when he comes to visit.
However, in my internet research I read that there may have been some issue with frame failure/fracture near the seatstays on these types of frames. Can anyone provide further insight if this is true, is it something I should be worried about, where should I look when I see the bike tomorrow? Also, would 250 be a fair price for this bike (a 61 cm, and they are very hard to find)? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Very rare problem. Look for cracks. That's a very reasonable price if in nice shape, depending on where you are located.

I had a '92 R600. A jet black/purple fizz fade job. Actually I still have it except I got hit by a Cadillac while riding it so it's FUBAR. All the Shimano components have been saved and are awaiting the right bike to transfer to. I wasn't a big fan of the aluminum fork and I thought the TIG-welded CR-MO stem was ugly so had I not been hit on it, I probably would've gone with a carbon fork threadless setup.

Don't hesitate if your size (61cm) is 'hard to find'. The $250 is fair.
