Schwinn Le Tour
Hi guys
I found Schwinn Le tour, good condition, selling at $150 right now. https://collegestation.craigslist.org...459274464.html
Should I go for it?
I'm an entry-level cyclist. I have been riding mostly around 6-8 miles a day and I feel that it is a time to go for a better one. My ride is Nishiki Custom sport (mixte frame) that I bought for like a year ago. The only downside is the speed, The top speed I can make is only 18-20mph. I don't care about the mixte frame (even though everybody claims that it's a girl's bike) because it is super easy to get on and off with my skinny jeans.
Do you think Le Tour is a better class bike? is it worth $150?
Thanks!

Its a quarter step up. Aim higher based on your objective.
Target better frames: any of the Tenax Schwinns, low number Tanges (Tange 5 is basic, Tange 1 Champion is great, Tange 2 is very good).
Look for a bike where the RD hanger is built into the frame, rather than a claw hanger, and one with an all aluminum crank instead of steel chain rings, stainless spokes, and DT shifters (and 700c wheels if you find them). The LeTour has none of these features.
Is the LeTour worth $150? If it is spotless and ready to ride, sure. But it is not a significant upgrade.
Note, the market value of a bike like I am describing is more like $250 to $275, depending on your market. But that is the kind of bike that will be an upgrade, and if your budget doesn't fit that price range, spend more effort looking. I routinely find bikes well under market price, but it typically is not off C/L, and when it is, I have to pounce (there is no time to post "Hey is this a good deal?", the good deals don't last that long). If you don't know how to quickly spot a deal, spend some time on the web and educate yourself. Its not hard in this age of Google.
