I bought this frame / fork / headset today. I have a set of Chorus wheels (Mavic rims) and 8 cog cassette that should work well. The frame is Columbus Max, headset Shimano 600. I have a 600 crankset, 105 FD, 3TTT stem/dropbars, chain, and dual pivot brakes on hand.

Welcoem tot he MAX club!!!

I thought this would be a good deal but WOW! this is a great looking frame. I wonder who built them? the fillet brazing and fork crown looks Bianchiish but the dropout style is different as it the lack of a seat lug.

I saw one of these in person in '91 (I think) and it was very nice but had a much fancier paint scheme, but perhaps that was just for the dealer show.

Quite a deal, often bikes without a strong following just go too cheap.

From surfing the internet I found that Lawnee (sp?), the force behind UniVega created Bertoni. They were shopped to builders like Bianchi and possibly Colnago. She's not my size, unfortunately, but I hope I can build her for a friend. The satisfaction will be in the result, not in any small profit I'd generate.

Yes Ben Lawee of Univega (one time Italavega) created the label as a Boutique high end bike.

I am sure you friend will love it.
