Bianchi brava late 80s

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if this is a good deal.

https://baltimore.craigslist.org/bik/2431649903.html

I've seen people saying they found similar bikes for around $150, so I thought this was a bit overpriced.

She's a nice bike. I've sold a similar bike a year ago for $260. If she fits you, is in perfect mechanical condition, and brings a thrill to your heart when you see her and take her for a ride - then she's worth it to you.

Such bikes at $150 are for those who spend an inordinate time searching and have instant reaction time and ready cash. Or they could just have a high positive kharma imbalance.

I notice the ad is over two weeks old. This may indicate the bike is an inconvenient distance away and/or a bit overpriced. Previous Craiglisters may have bailed. Show up on time with wad of $20s and $10s. Spend some time making sure you want the bike (and how much is too much). Offer $250 and see if the owner counters.

Finding a bike like that for $150 is unrealistic, unless you want a new part time job, hunting bike deals. At $350, probably somewhat overpriced.

And the $150 deals last about a nanosecond. Scoopers abound. Some of us that find super deals (me included) neglect to mention the hours spent not finding anything.

+1 To BG's comment below. A lot of the "best" deals need work, often a lot of work. And unless you have the tools/time/aptitude/space/knowledge/access to parts, such project bikes are often a "bad" deal (price to have a shop do the work will exceed the value of the finished product). Of the last 200 bikes I have bought, I can only think of ONE that did not need work. And that one bike was set up as a triathlon bike, with tri bars, shifters and levers. Since I did not not want a tri bike, all of that stuff had to be removed and modified. So even then, I ended up with a project.

that is a nice looking '88 Brava. the frame is a nice Tange DB main triangle with mangalloy stays, I have a similar '87 frame and they ride great. I do not have it in the catalog but since the Campione de Italia is listed as being $570 I am guessing this was $570 - 600ish new

I agree with the others on price and location. is Mt Vernon a neighborhood of baltimore? I would go, with a friend, with $250 and the seller ccould take it leave it.

just be sure it is in good condition and your size.

PS again as others have said, you can score bikes like that for $150 but you have to see it the second it is posted or you need to clean and overhaul it yourself.
