Detel Legend 6000?
Know nothing about this company and even the internet seems scarce on details compared to when I normally plug in a bike. Apparently the company went out of business within a year and they only made 2 types of bikes? This being the more standard of the two. Know idea if that info is true, I read it off a blog

There was also a numeric designation (either 6000 or 4000) added to the model name to indicate the grade of the components.. |
Hey did you ever pick up this bike? I too bought a Detel Frame about a year back. I probably found the same info on this bike as you did, which is hardly anything. Ha!

Brent Emery - still runs a bike shop in Milwaukee, WI and former Olympic athlete - was the manager of the Detel plant for its short lived operation. I ran into him a couple years ago at a swap and chatted him up. The idea was to import nice Ishiwata framesets, build them up and then sell them as a boutique line. Unfortunately, investors pulled out shortly after startup - 6 mos.? - and Detel went belly up.
Nice riding bikes tho not common except in the midwest. Certainly worth the $75 if in good shape. |
