Cannondale C600 Help

Just picked up my first road bike, 1992 (I think) C600 for $40 and it had aero bars. Seems to have an older Shimano 105 group minus the rear der. which is an Ultegra. The bike is actually in great shape except for a touch of rust on the calipers and headset. I am having trouble finding specs on the bike so I can pick up some parts like a new headset, brakes and post. Also, the shifters are obviously an older style as they are on the downtube, is there any reason why I wouldnt be able to put a shifter/brake combo on the bike?

Thanks for any help you can give. I am brand new to road biking and it seems like there is a hell of a lot more going on than there is on the mountain side.

Providing some photos would help with your inquiry. You don't need to replace parts with a touch of rust. Remove the rust unless you have money to burn.

Did you google it?

$40? Wow. Nice score. Before you do anything make sure the bike fits you. If it does then you can take the money you saved on such a deal and get a new drivetrain. Or flip the bike for about $300, add some cash and get something that already has brifters since buying the drivetrain parts is not very economical.
Lots of possibilities and Cdales are quite popular. I have one and like it a lot but still ride steel more often.

First, you will need seven speed shifters, which are scarce and expensive. If you want that style shifter, you are much better off just cleaning this bike up really well, selling it for about $300, and buying a modern bike with integrated shifters.

While I have converted quite a few bikes to integrated shifters, including several Cannondales, its an expensive undertaking. I have been fortunate in picking up a fair number of STI levers at a reasonable price.

Cannondale catalogs are all on line. As far as individual specs, digital calipers are the way to go, or just take the offending part to your favorite bike shop and they will measure it.

I flipped this one last year:
