Okay, I got this bike and I'm not sure what the frame is. I'm asking for some help sleuthing that out!

The seller said he thought it was a Lemond Poprad 2003. bikepedia.com (oddly enough) doesn't have any info on the 2003 Poprads. It was nicely setup for cyclocross (my goal) with Tiagra stuff and Dura Ace hubs with ADX-1 tubular rims with Tufo Elites glued on.

The decals are mostly gone, in a kind of fun way (I'll attach pictures), except on the fork that has "Lemon" on it and the rear stay which has a "d" on it and an "n" on the downtube.

The serial number is KU6G627, but I don't think Lemond support is going to be much help at this point.

Any thoughts? I'm not looking to sell it, I was looking for an affordable bike to get into cyclocross and not have to worry about and it's done that nicely. But it would be cool to "know" what it is!

BTW, the pictures definiately don't have stock stuff on there, I put my old 105 stuff on there and I'm playing around with Velocity A23 tubeless wheels at this point.

Interesting. I guess that would tip it towards aluminum? -- I honestly don't really know how to determine the frame material. Actually, I remember a mechanic who helped me out said the drop outs were aluminum, which I guess would argue for an aluminum frame (!), seeing as they're (sadly) not removable.

With the heavy snow pack this year, the falls were awesome.

Check the frame with a magnet, aluminum isn't attracted to it.

Good point re: magnet. It's aluminum. The serial number doesn't fit the conventions for Cannondale that I've found so far. And the aluminum Lemonds seem to have had cables routed under the top tube, not above like mine. Ehh, still confused, but still love this bike.

Eh, my mystery continues. I e-mailed Cannondale support and they said that's not a Cannondale serial number. I wish Lemond support still existed. I guess I'll try e-mailing Trek....

Well, the forks say Lemond, so let's assume that they are legit. The Poprad had a steel 853 frame. Maybe they had an aluminum frame also, but I owned a Poprad from around '94 and it was 853. The welds on your bike make me think it is aluminum. And your magnet seems to confirm that.

Actually, the fork decals say "LEMON". I'd say it's most likely NOT a LeMond (AFAIK, all Poprads were steel), but it does look like a decent bike.
