Titanium Panasonic - Custom Order

Ok. The time has come to sell this beauty off to a new owner. It has been fun storing it in my garage, but it's time to let it go.

This is the only one I have ever seen. What are my options?

Custom ordered Titanium Panasonic
Integrated number hanger
600 Tricolor STI 8 speed group w/ Campagnolo hoops

Is that thing bonded?

I've seen Fuji Titanium's go for near and past $1k... but those were welded frames, and the early ones had a titanium fork (the commercially pure Sumitomo produced frame sets).

I would do a couple of minor things before marketing the bike.

1. Address rust on fasteners: can see rust on the rear caliper bolt, chain ring bolts, etc.

2. New chain.

3. Clean up brifter cable routing: front shifter routing leaves the shifter horizontally, then take an abrupt 90 downward, then looping to the cable stop. Housing on rear shifter is too long.

4. Need matching tires.

Special bike, should draw some serious interest!

These pics are pre cleanup. What about afterwards?

I was also thinking about parting it out.

Any pictures I would post would be of the completed project for sure, want the picture in people's minds to be the "pristine", awesome looking bike. Part out is always an option. But if the components are original, I would be tempted to sell it whole. A Panasonic collector would probably be most interested in a complete, original bike.

beautiful bike. what is custom? the frame geomentry the paint or just that the Ti bike was not normally stocked and had to be ordered?

I like the way the number tab seems to double as a pump peg

These bikes were custom order only. It's the only Titanium Panasonic I've ever seen in this frame style. The paint is custom ordered from the PICS system as well. It even has the original owner's name on it. You could select your groupset as well. I guess this person chose Shimano 600 over Dura-Ace. Another sure sign this was custom order from Japan is the fact that all warnings on this bike are in Japanese. Plus, it came with this sweet tire patch kit. Try to find one in the US. Lol.

BDSM ith . . . I had to read that a few times, was that a joke?

Seems like a very collectible bike in many respects.

looks to be in nice shape , probly worth more than one would think to a panasonic enthusiast

Trucker Dan 07-17-11 07:18 AM

Don't get your hopes up. A very nice titanium panasonic with a brushed finish and dura ace went for only about $600 a few months ago on ebay. That paint looks very nice but I doubt yours would go much higher.

It will be sold as a frameset. Since it was custom order, I think the value will not be affected. This will give the buyer a chance to build it to their specs, not the original owner.
