1986 Raleigh Alyeska - smaller frame size

1986 Raleigh Alyeska

Paid $125 for the bike, impulse buy 2 years ago.

What would this be worth in today's market?

Small ding size of pencil eraser on top tube under seat nose.

Thanks in advance - (either suggestions on price or if should keep it)

1. Where do you live?

2. Post a pic of the ding.

Touring bikes get a good response from the market, particularly ones with canti brakes like yours. You should come out fine on this one!

I do like the bike. Stand over height is 30 1/2 which is perfect for me but the top tube seams short for my torso. I ride a 55cm '09 Rush Hour & a 17.5 '05 Marin Mill Valley hybrid which both fit me but this one feels way different. Not sure why but does. Thanks for your feed back.

That is a very nice Alyeska and it looks like you or the previous owner replaced at least the tires and hopefully the brake pads. The cables look original though. If you like it I would hold on to it, they are nice riders made from a quality steel. The canti's can be a little tricky to set up but once you get it right they work well.

I sold my Alyeska 2 months ago for $250, yours should bring about that because it is in a more desirable smaller size. The ding is pretty small and should not affect it at all, but would point it out to a buyer. I would ask $275 and take anywhere from $225 to $250. I only sold mine because I replaced it with another tourer in a better size.

I would not worry about that ding either. $275 to maybe $300 sounds right.

Depending on your market, you might do even better. Small frame touring bikes are hard to fisnd and garner a premium.

wrk101 & KOBE thanks again, I really appreciate the feedback. I'll post later on what I decided to do with it.
