Looks like in this go-round of cuts to pay medical bills, I may unload a dura ace group. Shifters, rd, crank, and hubs are mint. Wheels have some anodize rubbing from braking, cassette and chain are good. What's a fair.asking price? 8x2, couldn't be cleaner...

Hrm, going on your description, maybe $500 or so, depending on whether you want to go with CL or eBay. That might be a bit high but I think that you can do pretty well if you separate the components. Depending on where you are located, it might be a good idea to source out a decent frame and sell the whole thing for $800 or more.

Well, they are on a decent frame, but I don't want to get rid of that. I can always build the frame back up later, or I may throw my used Ultegra 10sp on it. The dura ace group i pretty much freebied off a colnago i had. I was hopign for $500+ for the whole thing, but ya, probably in pieces.

$500 MIGHT be possible on ebay as a group - but I think that's pushing it. You'll also pay the fees, so knock off $75. Separated out...you'll get more, but not as much more as you think - and the fees will be higher that way because of how ebay applies them. The shifters are the money part of that gruppo...maybe 150ish in decent shape. Those cranks are the most easily scuffed ever made...and possibly the ugliest...but there is a market for them, especially with the dust caps.

Around here, older high end road components have just about no market. I am just about the only one buying the stuff, seriously! Great for buying, sucks for selling. So in my case, I either have to sell them cheap, put them on a bike and sell it complete (also tends to go towards the low end), or sell on ebay. Ebay is the land of fees (the price of playing in their sandbox), and the "variance" on auctions is huge. Some of it is due to sellers doing a poor/mediocre job on their listings, but a lot of it is due to the luck of finding two bidders that really want your stuff. The variance on ebay is quite irritating to say the least.

As an occasional buyer on ebay, I love the variance. I tend to buy about a half dozen bikes a year on ebay, plus quite a few components, cheap (most of my bikes I find elsewhere, but every so often, I'll spot a deal).

As a frequent seller on ebay, I hate the variance. There are no guarantees that you will get what you would like to get for your item(s).

Grouppo: What about the bottom bracket, head set, seat post and brake calipers? I've sold some DA stuff, and the seat post and calipers tend to go well.

I had this group with a Thomson Elite post, calipers are great, 600 sealed bearing headset, 600 bb, This group is seriously mint. the cranks look unridden and as a mechanic, i'm yet to see a set of springy-er 7400 shifters (spent most of their life on the trainer, so never really shifted). Maybe I should just hold onto it...maybe not. We'll see if it makes this round of cuts...

If I thought I had any potential to use it later on and didn't need the money for an emergency, I'd hold on.
