Alessandro Exclusive Bicycle - Crazy Spotted Paint Job

1 Attachment(s)
So, as I was playing around on ebay, I stumbled across a frame my lady wanted instantly. I already have a ton of spare parts, wheels, drops, etc to build a frame up bike, but still don't even know what I spent $165 bucks on. Comes with matching fork as well. I just don't know if this is an original paint job or what.

Does anyone have any info on this frame?? It looks like it is from the 80's and has campy dropsouts and high quality build.

Did I pay too much, and is this a good bike to build up?

Thanks!

What I can tell you is I certainly did not build this bike.
I wouldn't mind owning it, though considering it has my name plastered all over it.

Now that's funny. I bought a bike on ebay probably 6-7 years ago that had Alessandro decals and a late 80's paintjob similar to yours. But mine did not have any pantographs or signature, and had been repainted and redecaled. It appeared to be from about 1980 at the latest, French metric sized tubing, a replacement Tange fork, and a French BB shell retapped to Italian. I found out ZERO about the Alessandro name, so I stripped the paint (it was in bad shape), and never considered the Alessandro labeling again. Yours is the first I've seen since then, and I did not keep any pics (well I did have some, but the computer died). So you can add my less than zero knowledge to yours.

Pics of the single speed mine became are here.

I'm guessing mine was never an Alessandro at all, but someone respected the name enough to copy one. But I am curious about the tab at the back of the headtube. Is yours a pump nub, or is it like mine, resembling a sideways race number tab?

Bumped another Alessandro inquiry from last year

I saw another exclusive on the forums, so that gives me some hope. Looks like it came with Campy parts?

I want to believe my paint isn't factory, but it is hard to tell by the quality of the work.

I'm not sure what you are referring to by the tab behind the headtube?
