87 Bertoni Italamerica

Hi, I've been looking for a fast bike to commute with and I saw a 87 Bertoni Italamerica going for $400. It's in good condition, and has steel Columbus frame and fork, full shimano 105 groupo , Concept eX Saddle, and Mavic Ma40 wheels. Is this a fair price/good bike? Thank you for your help.

Any pictures? Sounds like a nice bike, but for 105 I doubt I'd pay $400 unless the frame is really something special. It would also have to be in *perfect* shape for that money.

Without pictures it's too hard to pin down the value. But based on your information I'd put it at about $200-250.

It's cool, but quite a bit more than I'd pay for an 80s 105 bike with downtube shifters. Then again I don't live in CA, prices there might be considerably higher. If you really have to have that bike, $400 isn't crazy.

Also how tall are you? At least 6' I hope to ride that one.

It's not really that I have to have this bike, its just I'm looking for a fast commuter bike to replace the cheap one I have now. Also I'm 6'2".

I think the frame is Matrix which became CroMor after trek whined about it (or so I have learned from BF) so I agree the price is a tad on the high side for 6spd 105 possibly with a freewheel rather than cassette

I am pretty sure this is the same bike. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ht=Bertoni+105
