Miele Road Bike

For sale is a late 80s/early 90s Miele Road Bike. It has been ridden only a few times over the last 2 years of ownership. Has shimano components and shifters along the frame. Since I bought it 2 years ago, I have tuned it up with new bar tape, new pedals, and an overall clean/tune up. Bike is in great condition and is suitable for the casual rider or commuter.

The bike is stock other than description. What is it worth?

What is it worth? Depends on tubing and components. Meile is not a great name in vintage road bikes. Im guessing 300.00 from what I can see. But if you find the right buyer????

I never have figured out where the various Exage groups are in the Shimano hierarchy.

Anyway, it's definitely worth at least $150 as is. I wouldn't pay more than $250.

Tange Infinity frame is pretty decent, and paint looks good. Shimano Exage is basically entry level. So you have low end components on a mid level frame.

Bike looks dirty to me, probably needs new tires, rim looks pretty worn with dings, nicks and scrapes (still usable). I don't like the looks of that tire bead in the one close up pic. Probably just a flat tire that he rotated before taking a pic. New tires will cure that problem.

If you need the saddle that high, then the frame is too small for you.

$250 is way too much around here. As is, $100 to $150 (that would be pushing it). Fully rehabbed and ready to ride with fresh tires, spotless and so on, maybe $200. I sold a very similar bike, similar components, with a better name for $200, in ready to ride, spotless condition, this past riding season.

Thisis a PERSONAL view. Not what the market may dictate. Take it all this way:

IF the frame was to my fit ... I would be buying it for the frame — and possibly the wheel-set depending on what hubs it has and what rims it uses. So I'd not want to spend more than $150 — max. And then there is shipping.

+ what wrk 101 said.

The frame is good enough for most of us. No slouching in that department. No "bling" mind you — but bling is not my priority. The frame looks very nice, and if I remember anything Miele was not a magic name, but they were assembled and braized up properly. Nice tubes! But be aware that the stays and fork may be straight chrome moly. Nothing too wrong there either except to say it would not be a top end frame. But would you notice? Probably not. It would weigh a tad more and have a slightly less lively feel to it — MAYBE!

I quite like the looks of it.

You may find out more about Miele on Randy Jawa's web pages, "My Ten Speeds".

At $150 you can start riding it immediately and gradually upgrade components and parts. In time you could end up with a very nice machine Just get to some articles about sizing and see if it fits you.
