Bent ideal 80 saddle value
I just picked up an old road bike figuring the Saddle alone would be worth the asking price but when I took it off the bike I noticed it was a little crooked. The "sit" part is straight but as you move closer to the front it kind of veers to the right. The leather feels fine, firm but flexible. I'm goin to list it eBay and would like a general idea of what to expect or if it's even worth it.

Can't tell much from one pic other than it doesn't seem to have any serious cracking or tears. I would venture to say $75 to $100 to the right buyer.

It is hard to tell from the picture how bent it is. I would try and wrap a towel around the nose and put it in a bench vise and try some gentle persuasion.

It looks like the front bolt is slightly over to one side but the frame could very well be bent. I don't want to mess with the nut and stetch out the leather but I did whack it with a rubber mallet a few times to try to get it back into shape.
I started bidding at the cost of the bike. It's got a number of other parts I can sell, too so I'm not too worried about earning a profit on this one. I won't post the link but th pics I posted on the ad are a little better than what I posted here. Truth is, I don't know the history of the saddle and though it does look to be in much better condition than others I've seen, I don't want to make anyone feel like they got ripped off. |
