"Vintage Peugeot Road Bike"
This so-called Vintage Peugeot Road Bike is offered on Craigslist for $250. Of course I know the Peugeot name, but I don't really know anything about the bikes. What's this bike worth?
I'm looking for a decent road bike for endurance training to support my xc mountain bike racing.

That seems pretty high. I doubt that bike would go for that much even here in New York. Halve it and I'd say it's a fair price, but I am not a Peugeot expert in any way.

Nothing special about this bike just another average Peugeot. You see these on CL for half this price in most markets on an almost daily basis.

How can you guys tell from the tiny picture? I thought only the higher ones had the fully chromed fork. I know there are some high end Peugeots floating around from the 80s. I agree that without details and photos $250 is too high because it's impossible to determine anything.
Ask the seller for more info/photos. I sold a lower end Bordeaux for $175, $250 is high but not out of the ballpark. If the bike is something nice (NOT carbolite tubing) it could be worth $250.

It looks to be in good condition. If you're after a bike to ride and don't feel up to a restoration project, this could be a good deal depending on the components and overall condition.
The price is way too high to be able to flip the bike for a profit.

The chrome fork could be a replacement.Frankly,it looks bent (forward, not back, hard to tell from the pic,but I'd want a good look.). The gut ripper shifters make me think carbolite. Also,Pugs from that period often had the dreaded expander bolt seat post. I'm thinking very overpriced at this point, without some contrary evidence. Given the paucity of description,and the awful photo,I'd move on unless I could get more info.

Good cache on the forks guys your right they just don't seem right either bent or incorrect replacement forks. Either way a they just make this bike a no-go for buying at any price over $75 and that would be for the parts on the high side.

The decals are circa 1986/1987. In conjunction with the stem shifters, that would make it an entry level, HLE tubed model. Yet, the chromed forks, brake hoods and toe clips and straps are typical of a mid-range model. While these could be upgrades, the stem shifters could also be a conversion. The chainstay length looks more like a mid-range model and has me leaning that way.
The OP needs to go back and ask some very specific questions, such as the tubing type, make and model of major components and the wheel/tire size.
As for the forks, I didn't think they looked right either, but when I increased the page size, they looked like they may be OK.
