Older 1980s Italian FAGGIN w/ Gipiemme components

Hello all, I picked up this interesting (and unfortunately named) Italian road bike last summer and no longer ride it as much. I'm thinking about selling it, and wanted to find out what the community thinks it is worth. Components include: Shimano 600 SIS rear derailleur (6speed), Gipiemme front derailleur, Gipiemme seat post, Gipiemme SPRINT 1.375" ISO wheels, Modolo Flash brakes (and I think Suntour brake levers). The chrome in very good condition for its age, still nice and shiny.

Pictures should describe it better than I can.

Many thanks!

I don't. Any suggestions for how to find out? There is a "MADE IN ITALY" sticker, but no stickers identifying the tubset. I'm going to take another look at it for any other identifying marks, perhaps on the bottom?

1. seatpost diameter
2. look in the bottom of the fork at the steerer and count ridges, if any
3. If you want to start taking things apart, the steerer (inside of the HT) may be stamped

if that GipMe stuff is original I would not be suprised if that is a SL frame judging by all the chrome. too bad the RD is missing are the shifters shimano or GipMe?

Many Faggin frames were Columbus SL only in the three main tubes. Not that that was really bad. They went cheap, basically the name kept them at a discount. My guess only the three main tubes are SL. Guys would often remove the tretubi transfer to have the frame align with the components...
This was a good performing budget build, these frames came as frame sets, not built bikes, shops built them up in all sorts of ways.
Good color. Going to be hard to get over $500. maybe $375, a great deal but they just don't get the respect. I think they rode well, a journeyman's racing bike, good enough to get out of category 4, a training bike by the time one got to Cat. 2.

$375 seems fair to me too. I have an '86. Despite the name and it's ailing condition, it is still one of my favorie rides.

As usual, the best way to earn the most money on a bike like this would be to part it out. The frame/fork looks to be in ecxellent condition and it has some nice pantographs and the chrome is perfect---I think it could sell very quickly on ebay with a BIN of $300 as 54s are very popular. It is rare to see black spokes on a wheelset from this era, that should garner more attention and get you about $125 or so. The rest of the parts will fetch maybe another hundred bucks or so on the 'bay.

Selling locally on CL, I would aim for $400 since it is in such great shape. Take some nice photos outside with plenty of sunlight.

Are the drops Campagnolo? If so, that could really add some value to the frame/fork if you go the ebay route.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. The drops are made by Gipiemme - does that help the value of the frame?

Yes, but not the way you might hope, more than probably a tretubi, only 3 main tubes Columbus SL.
As I wrote earlier, these were decent, just not snob appeal worthy, but Black is a good color.
