Univega Gran Rally

I made a low ball offer on this today, but I'm not sure what it's worth. From what I've read, most of these had shimano 600 components. It is too short for me, but I'm thinking about parting it out, or just flipping it. Thanks for the help.

I'd say if your lowball offer got accepted that'd be a score, but I love barcons, and would enjoy having some more.

I had a mid 80s Gran Rally a few months ago and it did have the entire 600 group. If it has the Arabesque 600 group on it, then the price you get for parting it out goes up. But I think it's probably first gen 600 since it has center pulls - no idea what those parts bring in.

I'd say if you got it for $125 or even $150 would be a good deal if you're just trying to ride it and not flip it for profit. It has Barcons, that is a +1 and the condition seems fair.

I'd go grab it if the seller accepts your offer.

I have a 79' gran premio and i love it. Mine had cyclone and SR stuff though

$175 seems like a fair price, especially if it does in fact have 600. At $150 I would consider it a solid deal.

Cool old touring bike.

It's too small for me, but I have an obsession. I just sold a bike yesterday, and the cash is burning a hole in my pocket. This bike is too small for me and I'm thinking about it. I have a problem.

FWIW, that's a very late 1970's model, so don't be surprised if it's SunTour/Dia-Compe and there's no 600 at all. Though, the rear derailleur does look like a modern replacement. It wouldn't be worth $175 in my area.

Similar question to this original thread

Unfortunately the original craigslist post has been removed so I don't know what the asking or lowball offer was-
I am looking at this posting https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/2914464387.html

Can anyone tell me if offering $200 is decent? Also, should I even go for this bike? What questions should I be asking the owner?

I currently have a slightly rusted '76 Schwinn Varsity. I've been thinking about fixing it up but the thing weighs a ton (37 lbs from what I read) and I don't think the time putting into it is worth it.

If it's close to you, and he accepts the $200 offer, I think it'd be a decent buy.

I wouldn't pay more than $220, but that's because it's an hour and a half away from me.

Thanks omgar, the guy responded and took the offer. I'm picking it up on Saturday, I'm excited.

Sweet. It'll be much better than your Varsity.
