Need help figuring out this Shogun.
I plan on giving this Shogun to my girlfriend but i'd like to know more about it.
SN# M5F32778
It's a Shogun 150 hi tens, tang forks, lugged frame. SR on the stem, Road Champion stamped on the drop bars, from what I can see all Shimano components, Shimano DEL 80 levers, Shimano Integer-II drivetrain, with a Shimano Lark II derailleur. No name rims and hubs.
It's in sort of rough shape as it's been sitting. I was wondering if it's worth it to put some money into it or just dump it for cheap and try to get a new bike.

Based on your description, I would be giving my girlfriend something nicer. High ten steel frame, Lark derailleurs, plus rough shape = no thanks. It costs just as much to fix up a bottom end bike in rough shape (maybe more), than it does to fix up something nice. Who is going to do the work?

This is an entry level model. Without pictures or knowing exactly what work it needs, it's hard to say. If it's rough cosmetically, you'd probably be hard pressed to get over $100 in working condition, even in a hot market.

I would just consider finding a different nicer bike to fix up. It will likely cost you between $50-75 for basic wear parts to fix up more if it needs any components. Plus the time and effort to only end up with a bike that is worth $100. As Thrifty Bill says the time and costs off fixing a bike up are the same for a nicer bike or a cheaper one.

I was the last to ride it (quick rides to work until I got my fixed gear), as far as I could see with it, all it's going to need is a good cleaning as its a bit crusty and tubes and tires and I was going to do the work on it. I got it from a friend a while back for free so I just wasn't too sure.
She doesn't really want a bike in general but I figured it'd be nice to have for her to get somewhere, since she doesn't drive.
and zukahn1 I kinda figured as much, it's the same with instruments aha.
