2001 Serotta Classique Steel Custom Road Bike

This seems like it could be a good deal. Thoughts?

Original owner of 2001 custom built steel (853) Serotta Classique. The bike has obvious blemishes as pictures reveal, but was cared for impeccably. The bike was never ridden in the rain or on wet roads and the bike has never been crashed.

Slashing the price from $1399 to $1149. This bike has been lightly used for its age. Only has 8000 miles sinceq the upgrades in 2005.

Well loved bicycle.

Probably a great rider, as all of the Serottas I've ridden were quite nice.

$750 to $800 should take care of this, as the Shimano doesn't help it.

At least not with me.

Nice bike but tons of miles. 8000 since the rebuild? Probably over 20,000 total. Even steel frames don't necessarily last forever. At least the guy is honest about it.

Still, IMO that's too much for an 11 year old Ultegra bike. I wouldn't be interested at that price. Maybe if it were in the $700 range.

Agree with the $700-ish range. I like Shimano just fine, but they are far from new and the rest of the stuff is ho-hum.
