Campagnolo C-Record 1st gen Derailleur

Hi there.

I bought an old second hand bike which was a total mess with no value except that it had attached this C-record rear derailleur.

Itīs quite a bit damaged, but it seems to be an early model 1st gen, the ones with the solid cage and engraved logo..

Inside the parallelogram there is a number 20 and a 4.
Iīve see some other ones with a 21 and a 84, so, I am assuming mine is from 1984 because of the 4? But, the 20 looks like it could be an earlier alpha model??

As you see, itīs quite scratched, with some bites and the upper body bush (stop plate) is a little bit damaged.
Just as it is, how much could I ask for it?

Would it be worth dismantleing it, and try to polish and restore the scratches? I guess the anodized finish would disapear.. and it could be worst..

Thank you!

You'd probably get $50 (maybe a bit more) as is on Ebay. Cleaned and polished - over $100. You'd have to disassemble, clean, de-anodize, do some sanding to get out the scratches and then polish it. A fair amount of work.

Hello,
I am looking for a part to fix my old C-Record derailleur like yours in the photo.
If you still have this one, would you consider selling me a part off it?

Thanks

Probably the $60. part.

C Record gets the big dollars for mint or NOS stuff. User level stuff does not get anywhere near the respect. I think $50. or a touch more is market for this as it sits. To make it pretty will be a fair amount of skilled work with additional costs to reanodize parts.

After taking a closer look, it seems like yours is broken in the same way as mine, only not as bad.

Please see derailleur photo I found on a auction listing, I need to find one of these parts with the red arrow pointing. The stop plate that keeps it from rotating forward.

Almost everyone who has one of these units needs the limit bracket. The part was fragile. Not one of Campagnolo's shining moments of design and engineering.
