Vintage Bianchi made in Japan, what's it worth?

I'm new to bikes and this is the first one that I've bought ($250, California - SF). Did I overpay? I'm almost sure that it's a Piaggio Special. 12 speed, Ishiwata tubes (steel frame, chrome forks) made in Japan, SunTour aRX derailleurs, Dia Compe brakes, and "Sakae Custon / Road Champion" handlebars, custom seat post, but I don't know what any of the other components are (again, new to bikes). Fits perfect, paint's good, no rust but some of the stickers were peeling off.

I've replaced the saddle with a Brooks one and put on temp. tires. I'm still looking for bar tape and new tires (black with gum or skin wall tires, maybe?).

I'd also appreciate ANY suggestions for fixing it up.

250 seems pretty high to me.

Do you like it, does it fit? That is most important to the value, and it seems like it is in good condition.

Price is about right for SF, maybe even low, which is a red hot market. Gum wall tires are the best bet, Panaselas are the gum wall of choice.

Welcome to the Bianchi Club! I agree it seems to be in pretty good shape and fit and enjoyment is more important than price. Your spot on about the model a '83 Special (don't worry too much about that Piaggio decal that is just the parent corperation that owned/owns Bianchi, Vespa and a bunch of other stuff)

I think you going to have to go with Brooks tape to match the saddle.

Don't keep it upside down too much all the Bianchi essence will drain out.

@Bianchigirl!: I didn't know that the essence of a bike dripped out if it is upside down for too long. Good to know! Or is that only true for Bianchis?

Other bikes have no essence

I've always wanted a celeste bike. I didn't realize (until today) that this was actually a spiritual desire. I had always thought it was just about the bike . . . .
