SR Bike for Free, Help Identify model, Cost to fix vs worth? (Pic Heavy)
This bike was sitting on its side at the street side. After talking to the residential owner for all of 30 seconds she said, Yes, it is just going to go in the trash, feel free to take it... So I did.

It reminds me a lot of the Lotus I had. The Frame also has a Sticker that says "Japan" on it. I am guessing the frame, and bars are from Japan
.
So my question is, since this bike cost me $0... Is it going to be super expensive to restore this? In this shape would it be a crime to upgrade to an ergo shifting system? Is this bike just a waste of time or "Steel is Real" and get it going?
Thanks for any Information and opinons.

Cost to fix will exceed value around here. Myself, I would donate to the local co-op. Ergos? I would look for a lot higher end frameset.

You have an entry level bicycle. Probably weighs 28 to 31 pounds. It will be a fun recreational ride but no more. Were it up to me, I would not spend much money on the bicycle unless you happen to have a soft spot for that brand.

Hold onto it. You can always use it for parts, or you might stumble on another bike that you can get parts for this one from. In other words, put it on the back burner for now if you have the room to store it.
