Chesini Enzo Giacobbe and Bianchi Volpe Cross Terrain

I stumbled upon this bike on my local craigslist.

https://stlouis.craigslist.org/bik/3013400845.html

I figure the asking price is through the roof, but anybody have an idea what this bike may really be worth. I am doing research on my own, but info doesn't seem to be easily forthcoming.

https://stlouis.craigslist.org/bik/2965245051.html

There is also this bianchi which I am tempted to build for a commuter for somebody I know. I was thinking it was worth more like 175, but any thoughts?

I don't know about the Chesini but I understand they are very nice bikes and that one looks real nice.

I think the Bianchi is a bit over priced, I believe they only sold for about $500 maybe $530 new. Better pics of it would help. that has a highish BB so a 22" frame may fit more like a 23 or 24.

I will see if I can get better pictures from the owner. The double edged sword is that this is the original owner. He knows how much he paid new.

well as for the Volpe... the '89 sold for $450 and the '91 sold for $579 (now that was the price in my store but in those days like today the MSRP was set by Bianchi (and all bike companies) so the '90 had to be right around $500 so he didn't pay that much for it. The bike is 20 years old and he still wants 75-80% of its value? I hope he doesn't sell cars. If it was the top of the line Equinox in prristine shape maybe that kind of value would make send but not on a $500 that has been used alot.

I'd probably pass on this Bianchi as well at $400; if you are looking for a commuter, you can probably pick up something for a heck of a lot less.

1200 for the Chesini seem high. Maybe 5-800 would be a decent deal.

I think on the bianchi there is a good chance I can talk him down. It has been up for quite awhile.

The only chesini's I have found sold on ebay are quite a bit less (although there are only 2 sold, only one of those a complete bike). I think the seller is looking at the ones for sale listed at like 1800.

That Chesini is very clean and the components are top of the line, if it were a better known name like Pinarello or Colnago, it would be gone at $1200. If he will sell it to you for $1000, I say go for it.

Not sure generation record parts are on that Chesini, but it's a beautiful looking bike. Fortunately, it's way too small for me and I don't have that kind of money.

If it has been up a while, I'll bet he's already been offered 150$ and turned it down. Bianchis attract attention; the name ads about fifty to the price IME. Those suntour "brifters" have some value by their own selves as well.

I don't find the Chesini price particularly high. It's a very nice Italian marque, on a par with Willier, say. The ones I have seen have had a high level of craft. Toss in the recond ergo stuff and there's some value in that bike. I would be bargaining down if I went to look at it, but the price seems ballpark to me.
