What's a 1997 Bianchi Veloce worth?

I recently picked up this bike for a song. It is a 51cm frame. It is in pretty good shape with no rust, dings or dents. There are some paint chips on the fork and seat stays. I picked up some 'official' Bianchi Celeste paint and plan on doing a little touch-up. It has Campy Veloce components. Everything is original. The pedals that are currently on it are just temporary. I will be selling it soon so I can add to my bike fund. What do people think I should ask for it? Thanks.

Beautiful steel Celeste !
That's a '98 which originally listed at $1500 http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/B...loce&Type=bike 97 came w/ 8 spd 98 had 9 spd and a steel fork. 99 introduced the carbon fork. I've been looking at Veloces for the past couple of months. They've ranged from the lowest at $500 up to $850. 2 wks ago a 53cm 9 spd was posted for $1000, but that was San Francisco. and I'm sure you've seen the Veloce just listed in LA for $380! to give you a rough idea,Veloces for the past month: LA $380 NY $800 LA $575 SF $625 SF $750 NY $450 Boston $800 Seattle 2001 $700 SF $1000 Atlanta 1995 $625 Orange county $850 NY $650 Dallas $750 Portland $750 NY $600 Boston $600 Seattle 2004 $650 (I miss JAXED bikes which had current & expired listings) Obviously doesn't take into account year, condition or size, but I hope that gives you some perspective. Good luck on your Bianchi. |
Inutil, thanks for the info. I was having a hard time trying to determine whether the bike was a 97 or 98. It seemed to be a mix. It had more components from a 97 than 98 so I guessed late 97 using some 'new' parts or an early 98 and they were using up 'old' parts. The derailleur is a 9 speed but the cassette is 8 speed (which could be a replacement).
I plan on selling it, using the proceeds to add to my bike fund to buy another Italian bike or a Merckx that is my size. I bought it for so cheap I couldn't pass it up. I see you have a couple Bridgestones. A couple months ago I picked up my 1992 RB-1. It is a great bike. |
