raleigh hand me down PICTURE

new to the forum. sorry if this is the wrong section for this post. My dad gave me this bicycle he has had for as long as I can remember. I believe it was made in 1992. Anyone have any info or know what model this would be? It has shimano 600 and 105 parts.

I was thinking it is a mid '90s Raleigh Competition but I could be wrong. Can you take a couple of photos of the tubing decals, rear drops, and fork crown?

seat tube sticker appears to say "made in USA". I didn't know Raleigh actually made anything in the USA in that era.

yup...
From Sheldon Brown:

American made Raleighs manufactured in Kent, Washington, By Derby Cycle

Sample The Techniums were the Kent, WA frames.

Yep.

"Of all the bikes we tested, undoubtedly the most technically innovative is the Raleigh Technium 480, which is made in Raleigh's new facitity in Seattle, Washington." - Bicycle Rider, September, 1986.

Bicycle Guide magazine even had a big feature story on the factory and how the bikes were manufactured.

Then of course Mike Melton hand built built a small number of very special competition Raleigh bikes.

Cool. I thought they were all Asian then. A good friend of mine has a Technium from the late 80s with similar lugwork, but it's an aluminum frame. (A lower end model which he bought new, but it's still going strong.)
