1982 Fuji Supreme - A couple questions, por favor

Hey, guys. Threw this in the other forum but didn't have any replies.

I've been a lurker for a little, but now I'm looking for some feedback.

There is a 1982 (I presume) Fuji Supreme posted for $100.

The questions I have are in regard to what I can/cannot see in the pictures (the ad is here: https://duluth.craigslist.org/bik/3144068030.html). The current owner said everything is original, but the rim valves appear to be different than the stock. And I'm uncertain what the thing is on top of the right brake (both the valves and the "thing" are visible in the third picture). Not sure how to interpret each of those parts.

Also, the only sizing the owner knows about is that it's 56 cm. Does that mean from the bottom bracket to the bottom of the seat post or the top tube? (And, to give you an idea of my size, I'm 5'7".)

The stock bike looks to be this: https://classicfuji.com/1982_18_Supre...remeL_Page.htm

Thank you kindly for any replies.

Nick

Sorry you didn't get any replies elsewhere, sometimes threads fall through the cracks.

Ok, the bike. First thing is that it's not a 56cm. Sellers ALWAYS get the size wrong for some reason. Looks like a 52cm or maybe even smaller. At 5' 7" it might fit you but it may be too small.

It's a lower end model but the condition looks good so $100 is not a bad price. If it fits you and everything works, go for it. If it's too small, pass.

+1 Not 56cm. Sellers ALWAYS get size wrong. I really don't understand why, as measuring size correctly takes about 10 seconds.

+1 Lower end bike, but the price is attractive, and paint looks good. Up to you.

Except the tires look bad. I'd use that as leverage with the seller - (Try to look disappointed/surprised, and maybe he'll make good on that "OBO".)

I love bikes with ratty tires. You have to replace them anyway, but when they look real bad it's a clue that the seller will negotiate.
