Vintage Scwhinn Le Tour

here i have a link to a schwinn le tour that seems to be in good condition except for the tires.

I was hoping someone could give me feedback as to how much this bike is actually worth and if this is a good deal or not?
-thanks

Not sure about value, but I really dig the color. Steel wheels would be a deal breaker.

Le Tour IIs were made in 1977. Roger

They're decent all-around bikes - I've got one identical to the one in the ad in a 25" frame (I love the orange). Very solid and dependable riders, very comfortable. The Panasonic-made LeTours were decent (if somewhat heavy) bikes at a reasonable price point, which is why there were a lot of them sold. The price seems a bit high - I think I paid half that a year or two ago but it varies in each market...

I like the color too. But thats a bit overpriced. $150 range is more like it especially cause the tires are shot.

I had that bike, as well as a '78 Le Tour III woman's, in the same color. Nice riding bikes. Heavy and the steel wheels were not great for braking. Sold them a couple of years ago for $100 each and thought that fair. Both were in great shape and needed nothing.

If all the components were rust free I'd say that's fair.

If it was ready to ride, price would be fine. While the paint looks good, bike will need a fair amount of $$ to make road ready. Tires are a quick indication of neglect.

25 years in storage = major overhaul needed. I routinely buy such neglected bikes (its the norm), but I get a hefty discount and I do all the work myself.

Steel rims, high ten steel frame, stem shifters, good looking bike, but on the basic side.

+1 Attractive but it'll need a complete overhaul. And given how low-end it is, pass at $250.

Also, 22" = 55.9cm, not 58cm. Someone needs to get their calculator checked.

Bikes in my area sell for top dollar, but I think that one is overpriced. While it is a nice bike, I would count on new ; tires, tubes, probably cables & housings, packing bearings, etc.
