Classic Peugeot Road Bike
Hi everyone,
I have been looking at this classic Peugeot bike. I don't know much about it except the owner recently (within 2 years) put on new tires, seat, and cranks. Can you guys tell me any more about this bike? He did say he was offered $1700 by the shop that worked on it a couple years ago. Is it worth that much now?
I can upload more pics if needed

No way it's worth $1700. Very very few vintage bicycles ever break into that price point, and this isn't one of them.
It looks to be a very nice Peugeot though, from what I can tell from the grainy photo those are Reynolds 531 decals which means this might be a PX series bike. But it is a later model, early 80s I believe. And the lack of a chromed rear triangle is worrisome.
From what I see, I would put this somewhere in the $300 range. But with more info, it could be worth more than that.

Just from a quick catalog browse it could be a 1981 or 1982 PKN10 which is Reynolds 531 main tubes only or a PFN10 which is Vitus 181. See this picture of a PKN10

And search catalogs yourself at https://www.cyclespeugeot.com/Catalogs.html
I'm skeptical it is a PXN10 because the fork is not all chrome. But the picture is too blurry, and from the wrong side, to really tell.
If a 1981 PKN10, and in very nice original condition, complete, and nothing wrong with it - then I think it is worth between $200 and $300, depending on where you are. Some cities are expensive markets for bikes, others are not. If a PFN10, maybe a bit less.

I don't know of many 70's Vintage Puegeots that go for $1700. Even the nicer PX-10 minty racers with choice vintage upgrades like Campy components usually go for under $1000. This one is in the $300-$400 value range. Considering it has some nicer components and a nice wheeset.
